Socialisation

Taranaki's original mobile dog daycare service has expanded and evolved, pack socialisation for every age, breed and energy level. Dogs will spend their time with us exploring their needs as a dog, pack member and how to do so in our environment, while guiding them through this, fostering a thoughtful state of mind and way of being.

We offer the opportunity for your dog to experience a unique canine pack run with the safety of knowledgeable and dedicated canine coaches, trained to recognise body language and behaviour, fully insured and certified in pet first aid and CPR through PET First Aid Training NZ. We have been growing and exploring for the last 8 years and pride ourselves on our standards of operation. As proud members of The Fouché Way family, led by Brandon Fouché in the United States, we focus on our relationship with each dog and communicate with them individually and as a pack, as nature intended. Nature had it right.

A wholesome and rewarding outing leaves your dog in a calm and relaxed manner, which we encourage as soon as your dog's day begins. Our packs are assessed and managed to cater for certain types of energy levels and fitness, therefore you will find a unique mix of breeds and sizes within each pack. Puppies and young dogs are regulated to allow for growth and muscle development and higher energy working dogs are stretched to their potential.

Using our combined wealth of knowledge on breeds and purposes, each day trip encourages a healthy respect for each dog to develop their own breed characteristics with supervised guidance and social boundaries. We do so with a combination of off and on leash structure.

Our philosophy 'nurture through nature' stands not only in the way we communicate with our packs, but by running our services in suitable natural environments partnered with old fashioned fresh air. The variation of terrain ensures a level of physical and mental stimulation, whilst creating boundaries in the environment.

Often we think by stimulating dogs with toys or a walk around the block we are doing best by our canine friends. However to allow your dog to 'just be' in an open space with its own species, it can have enormous holistic benefits which have been seen and documented by behaviourists all over the world.

Canine development and socialisation occurs when a natural pack order is created. By guiding the dogs through natural terrain, it allows the dogs to work as a team and problem solving can be readily seen contributing to establishing pack dynamics.

Every dog that comes to us needs to have the opportunity to adjust and find balance with the pack. We truly enjoy working in a dog that may have extremities in their behaviour, from high prey drive to anxiety, to reactivity and it is incredible to observe the pack learn and adjust each time a new dog is brought in and new relationships formed. How to greet and interact, say no and how to use their mouth, regulating energy levels, drives and most importantly, how to respond to all of this without being involved. This is socialisation.

- Your dogs day will start with us by being collected from home before 8:00am and headed to our property. Time to settle and find their balance for the day is supported, any new comers will be introduced accordingly.

- Throughout the morning we follow our intuition for the day and getting a feel for how the pack is feeling, determining the morning activities.

- We leave by 11:30am to commence morning social drop offs. Day social dogs are home approximately 1:30pm

- The afternoon allows for further booked adventure socialisation and rehabilitation services.

Upon receiving your enrolment form, we will be in touch to further discuss your needs and those. of your dog. We will arrange a day for your dog to complete an evaluation and if you haven't already, an introduction into Instincts First. Here you will learn more about our environment and what your dog will experience with us.

We create our packs thoughtfully and with the intention to establish relationships and balance individually, as well as a pack. We operate at a rate that fits this, therefore our waitlist can be hard to predict. We appreciate your patience in advance and will remain in contact to keep you informed.

We also offer end of day baths
